Apple Watch VS Android Wear – Which Stands Out

SHARE

Wearable technology is sure to be a big hit in the market in the near future and so far, smartwatches are currently in demand with big names such as Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Sony all have their own products that are based on Android. Apple, on the other hand, isn’t far behind as it launches the new Apple Watch.

Weighing In On Apple Watch and Android Wear

Now that Apple has just launched its wearable tech, how does it compare with Android Wear by Google?

On the surface both these wearable techs have the same features such as fitness tracking, voice prompts, running various applications and so on. However, Apple Watch has added Digital Crown and Force Touch technology that remedies problems that are associated with using a small interface.

Design

Both Google and Apple have put a lot of thought on the design of their smartwatch as the design is as important as the functions it offers. For Google, both the LG Watch Urbane and Motorola 360 sport a round face while Sony Smartwatch 3 has a rectangular face. Unfortunately, users of Android Wear are having a hard time using the interface on the rounded smartwatch as opposed to the rectangular one.

Apple Watch, on the other hand, has a square design with the option of swapping the straps depending on your preferences.

Features

When it comes to features there are many parallels between the two such as Android Wear’s voice integration where you should say “OK Google” first before asking any questions. In Apple Watch, Siri will be the one to give out answers to questions, send emais, answers texts and so on.

Fitness is also another feature that both these devices offer. Android Wear is all about helping its user to set up a fitness schedule, workout regimen, daily reminder, and so on so they can keep up with their fitness goal. It also boasts fitness tracking apps where you can measure the distance you’ve run, jogged, biked, or even just walked. Apple Watch also has the same abilities where you can have your heart rate monitored, calories you’ve burned, and even the number of steps you’ve taken just like Android.

Availability and Price

Android Wear products are already available in the market so it’s just a matter of deciding on the style, features, and of course price. The usual price range for Android Wear is between $200 and $300. You can go with Sony Smartwatch 3, Motorola 360, or even G Watch R.

Apple Watch, however, falls on the expensive side as its base price is already pegged at $350 and upwards to $10,000. The price for Apple Watch varies depending on the size, design, and materials used as well as features installed so you might want to check your budget for this one first.

Which One Should You Buy?

Both the Apple Watch and Android Wear offer amazing features that not focuses on day to day to activities but in fitness as well. Deciding on which one to purchase rests solely on your preferences as well as your budget. For now, Apple Watch is limited to iOS while Android Wear is compatible with different apps and devices that run on Android.
